The Downs School and Primary Languages

The Downs School has held Specialist Language College Status for four years.   As part of its outreach programme, a Primary Languages Liaison teacher has been appointed to take best teaching practice into the federation primary schools in this area.

Recognising   the different levels of support needed for each school, the Downs School’s unique approach means that each primary school will receive the level of support they feel they need in partnership with the Primary Languages Liaison teacher.   The PLL is able to visit and support the teachers within each school to ensure they are well-resourced and confident to deliver first class lessons to their primary students.

As part of a wide range of events, the PLL is also involved in creating appropriate events for the federation primary children which will enthuse them about both language learning and the different cultures of our world.
