Danish Cultural Visit

A Summary of the Danish Visit
by Charlie

group

During the last few days of March, a group of Danish sixth-formers from a school near Bilund, Denmark, braved the rainy weather of England for four days. They arrived in the evening of the 29th of March, and were met with a warm welcome from the English host families. On Sunday, a group of hosts and Danes went to Oxford for the day, where we went ice-skating and spent the day getting to know our partners.

The Danish students spent Monday in school, coming to lessons with their exchanges. They held a discussion in the afternoon, where current-affairs topics were debated. The standard of English spoken by the Danes was fantastic, and there was no problem with communication whatsoever.

The Danes were involved in other visits around the area on Tuesday; their last day with us. In the evening, we all met up for a meal. By then, the bonds between visitor and host were strong, and everyone got on really well. Further contact details were exchanged, and we began planning possible return visits over the summer.

The Danes left for London on Wednesday morning, but we have all been in contact since. The visit was useful as we were able to broaden our knowledge about other countries, languages and cultures, whilst making friends at the same time.
