Year 8 Students Making News
We've done it! We've made the news and published it here before the deadline of 4pm on 26th March 2009! Use the player below to watch our news bulletin.
On 26th March 2009, students at the Downs School make the news for real!
Students from year 8 made and broadcast the news for real on 26th March 2009 as they took part in BBC News School Report. The aim was to publish the news by 1600 GMT on the News Day. In the weeks leading up to the big day, the team has worked hard and produced reports on some of the features they had been researching.

BBC News School Report gives 11-14 year-old students in the UK the chance to make their own news reports for a real audience. On 26th March 2009, schools take part in a News Day, simultaneously creating video, audio and text-based news reports, and publishing them on a school website, to which the BBC aims to link.
Last year, The Downs School then current year 8 students, took part in this ambitious and challenging event. There were lots of last minute tasks and tense moments but all the students gained greatly from the experience. To view more information about the 2008 School Report follow the link below.
