The Downs Equestrian Teams have been extremely successful this year. In January they competed at Cherwell and the 90cm, the team fought their way to fourth place battling against 130 riders, which was an amazing result! One student came second individually in the class and first individually in the 1m, which won places in the National County Championships in both classes. The Championships are held in Buckinghamshire against all the other qualifiers in the country, and we are hopeful for more success there. Three other students also competed well that day in their classes.
Later in January, the 90cm team battled for six hours at West Wiltshire Equestrian Centre. The team came fourth against 180 teams competing from other schools, narrowly missing a place at Windsor Royal Horse Show, which is awarded to the top two teams. We are extremely proud that the team of riders performed so well.
One student competed individually in the Eventers Challenge, coming a very successful third place. Another student competed individually in the 80cm Scurry, coming twelfth out of 26 riders, and also competed in the 80cm Eventers Challenge, coming 28th out of 96 riders. Congratulations to both students.
We hope to compete more this year and will be starting the Schools One Day Event soon. If anyone would like to participate, please contact Lisa Blair email@example.com with any questions.
