School Choir Christmas Performance
Grange Residential Home
On Thursday 17th November the school choir set off for the Grange Residential Home in Goring to entertain the elderly residents with a selection of well-known songs. The audience were obviously keen viewers of X-Factor, as many of them knew “Hallelujah” - the Christmas Number 1 for X-Factor winner, Alexandra Burke. The choir also had the residents tapping along to “Mamma Mia” and “I will Follow Him” from the film “Sister Act”, as well as enjoying quieter moments with “Scarborough Fair” and “The Rose”. The choir joked about the phrase “I want to go home” which occurred several times in their opening number “Sloop John B” and made it clear that they didn’t really “want to go home”. The residents were also keen for them to stay. Two of the ladies made impromptu votes of thanks to the choir, saying how much they had enjoyed both the melodies and the harmonies. The staff were also very kind and welcoming, providing tea, squash and fairy cakes after the concert as well as a big tin of Celebrations, which was shared out at the next rehearsal.

The choir is now busy learning a new Christmas repertoire ready for the school carol concert on Tuesday 13th December and a visit to Basildon Park on Friday 16th December to entertain the visitors to the National Trust property.
