Boulogne Trip 2009

Boulogne Trip 2009
An Awesome Trip!
The coach set off very early from school on Saturday 19th September at 6.00 am. The journey down to Dover was very exhausting in itself, and that was before we even arrived in France! We finally arrived at the Eurotunnel and set off under the sea. Some people found this part of the trip very exciting because it was their first experience of underwater travel. When we arrived in Calais it took another half-hour to reach Boulogne.
The weather was sunny and warm. When we got off the coach we were put into groups and walked down to the shops and market to buy our lunch. My group chose a variety of baguettes for our lunch and it was great fun asking the man in French for our order. We must have done ok because we all got what we ordered. As we ate our lunch we looked at the market stalls and bought some keepsakes and presents to take home. Then we walked up to the old town to look round the shops whilst the teachers had their lunch. A group of pupils bought Jamaican Rasta hats and wore them round the town.
After lunch we went up steep steps to look round a castle-like building and back down to Boulogne Cathedral. We saw lots of statues and bold, bright sculptures and paintings on the walls. Then it was back on the coach for a quick trip to the supermarket to have a general look-round and buy any last minute souvenirs and refreshments for the long trip home.
At 5.15pm we left the supermarket and headed back to Calais for the Eurotunnel journey home. One highlight of the trip back home was when we stopped at a service station and enjoyed a go in the massage chairs. Everybody wanted a go and it was great fun!!
We finally made it back to the Downs at 9.35pm. It had been a very long day but very enjoyable and exciting. It’s an experience we’ll all remember for the rest of our lives; it was great.
I would like to say A big THANK YOU on behalf of everyone to Mrs Preece for organising this great trip, Mrs Millar, Mrs Miller-Cook, Miss Talia, Mrs Forster, Mrs Caddick-Adams and Mr Felimond – they were fab and all behaved themselves very well whilst in a foreign country! Without their help and support we would not be able to do such awesome trips.

It was the best [trip] yet.
Mrs Preece
The behaviour was outstanding. The fact that they were in a foreign country and still behaved well is great. I was very impressed.
Mr Felimond.
Everyone was well behaved and enjoyed themselves. It was great.
Miss Talia
