Red Nose Day, Comic Relief 2011
The Downs Schools' Funraising Events
As always the Downs School embraced Red Nose Day and despite lessons as usual, staff and students managed to 'do something funny for money' - lots of things in fact!

The day started with staff and students abndoning their usual school uniforms and dressing in the Red Nose theme. There were a lot of red noses being worn, sold by students in previous days, but these were a little difficult to keep on all the time so red was a theme with lots of fun accessories!

There were events at break and lunch times, on Red Nose Day itself, organised by departments such as Splat Your Head of Year, English Raffle, Maths Beat the Teacher, ICT gaming, PE Beat the Teacher and the previous day the library was busy with the Library cake sale where pupils and staff who were keen to sample Mrs Coker’s ‘Red Nose’ cakes in return for donations were able to add a red nose of their own to the main display (pictured). The event raised £45 towards the school’s fund-raising efforts the following day.

Money raised from all the activities toppled £1000 - well done everyone!
