Record numbers of year 11 students shunned other destinations to take up a coveted place in The Downs sixth form this September. Recruitment onto science, mathematics and language courses bucks the national trend at advanced level with 2/3rds of students also choosing to study the three separate sciences in year 10 and 11.

The school is also keen to recognise that success comes in many forms and community spirit is a cornerstone of The Downs. Celebrations continue in the form of a whole school, 6 mile sponsored walk on the 25th September when students at the school will be raising money for school based student projects.
