The Downs School Students' Amazing Sporting Success

'Double Double' for Delighted Downs School Students!

County Championship winners with their trophies.

Downs School pupils have scooped four County Championship titles in Cross Country and Rugby in the two months since Xmas!

In the County Cross Country Championship, which took place in January, six runner squads stormed to victory in the team events at Under 15 and Under 17 girls’ age groups (many of the older girls forming the Downs School Under 17 squad have won the County Championship title four years in a row). We continue to be very proud of their achievements and committed hard work.

Andy Colling, Cross Country Team Manager, said
This double success reflected the work put in at training and in lessons by the girls who capped the top three placed finishes of the school’s other teams by finishing first again!

The long awaited finals of the Rugby County Cup competitions, postponed several times due to bad weather, were held for the first time at the beginning of March this year. The Downs School won Under 15 and Under 18 competitions against opposition from Sandhurst College and Charters School, respectively.

Dave Pincott, Under18 coach, said
The boys played out of their skins today, especially those who came in as
replacements for injured players. A thoroughly deserved win against a team of very strong and fast opponents.
