The Downs School has much to celebrate. Four students from Year 13 have offers of places to attend Cambridge University next year.
The four students –Lizzie , Pippy, Amy and Henrietta - were due to hear on Wednesday during the snow disruption in the middle of January. Lack of the postal service led to some chewed fingers as the offers came in dribs and drabs by email and phone calls across the last part of the week.
The ecstatic students were delighted to receive offers from this prestigious university. All four have applied for different courses at different colleges. Lizzie intends to read English at Trinity Hall, Amy to read Natural Sciences at Sidney Sussex College, Henrietta to read Veterinary Medicine at Emmanuel College and Pippy to read French and Italian at Girton.
Head of Sixth Form, Andrew Hartley, said:
I’m delighted for these students. The girls have done fabulously well. We have some remarkable students at The Downs, but for four students to receive offers in the same year is some achievement.
