Year 12 Enterprise Day

Champions of Enterprise Day

group photo of the winning teamYear 12 students recently took part in The Champions of Enterprise days. 11 teams of students battled it in a Dragons Den style exercise with a twist. Instead of pitching for money the students were ‘the dragons’! Playing the role of imaginary investors they had to choose where to invest £100,000 in one of three real life local companies. The teams had to construct a ten minute presentation giving reasons for their decision to representatives of all three companies. This exercise tested the student’s leadership, teamwork, presentation, research and independent study skills as well as enhancing their understanding of the world of business.

The winning team , Envest, particularly impressed the judges with their knowledge of how their money could be used to enhance the company, Enfuels of Thatcham. Slick ideas like joint-marketing ventures, partnership agreements with multi-national companies and share options all enhanced their presentation. The winning team, Dean, Lucy, Phil, Hannah, Pippy, James, Emily and Darren, now go on to the final at Newbury Racecourse in December against 7 other local schools.”
