Fabulous afternoon at the 10th annual sponsored walkPosted on: 1st Oct
Last Friday was a fun afternoon with our 10th annual sponsored walk taking place. All students in the school and the Sixth Form joined together for the 10km route along the Ridgeway, helping raise vital funds for the school.
Over 1,200 students set off in staggered starts and despite a short downpour ahead of the event, the weather was very kind and students completed the event in windy, but dry conditions. Students were invited to wear fancy dress, and there were lots of colourful costumes on display including a Year 7 group dressed as the character ‘Where’s Wally’ from the children’s books. The Science teachers looked incredible as Disney Prince and Princesses, and several students completed the event wearing Donald Trump masks!
Final monies are yet to be counted, but previous walks have raised over £20,000 and we are confident we can exceed this amount again this year. The decision on how to spend the money is always a collaborative decision between staff and students.
Headteacher Mr Prosser said: “After a busy start to the school year, this is always a great event and brings the whole school together. The students really enjoy being out in the fresh air and are really generous is helping us to raise much needed funds for the school."
