Join the Sixth Form
Catchment areas do not apply in the Sixth Form, nor are we restricted on the numbers of students we are able to offer places to. We are therefore able to provide places to many students who attended other schools before they joined The Downs School Sixth Form, and have been notably successful at integrating students from other schools into the Sixth Form community. Typically, 25% of our Sixth Form students join us from schools other than The Downs.
We run a wide variety of events, such as the Sixth Form open evening and Sixth Form open mornings, that are designed to showcase our school to students and parents considering whether or not they wish to join The Downs. We would encourage you to come to these events to see for yourself what a special place The Downs School Sixth Form is.
Our Open Evening takes place on annually in November. There are a number of interactive displays around the school, and subject teachers and students are available to answer questions. Tours of the school are given, and there are two presentations in the Main Hall. The date for the 2020 Open Evening is not yet confirmed.
Sixth Form Open Mornings
Our Open Mornings for Rising Year 12s take place on various dates throughout the year. The next one takes place on 2 March. Prospective students and parents will be able to see the school in action and have a tour of our facilities. This will be followed by an informal presentation in the school library. Please get in touch to book a place on the Open Mornings. We look forward to meeting you.
